Kobe under new ownership

Altmann Analytik acquires long-standing LLG member from Marburg

Mr and Mrs Kobe handed over their company to Altmann Analytik GmbH & Co. KG with effect from 1 October 2026. Dating back to 1905, the business has been an LLG member for 23 years and mainly supplies research institutions, universities and industrial labs.

Farewell and a first meeting

In mid-October, Mr and Mrs Kobe visited us in Meckenheim together with Tobias Thelen, majority shareholder and CEO of Altmann Analytik, as well as Tanja Hönisch and Aaron Gilljohann. Ms Hönisch and Mr Gilljohann are taking over the management of OTTO KOBE UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co. KG and will work with Altmann Analytik to further develop the company.

For the Kobe family, the visit gave them the opportunity to say goodbye to long-standing companions and business associates. At the same time, LLG representatives and Kobe’s new owners met in person for the first time and exchanged views on their future collaboration.

About Altmann Analytik

The distributor was founded around 40 years ago and is headquartered in Munich. Its specialisms are chromatography and microbiology consumables, alongside a broad offering of chemicals and general laboratory supplies. Its branches are located in Gablingen near Augsburg, Schwerte and Atlanta (USA).

A team of 35 works with full commitment to deliver outstanding service. The Kobe brand, the existing website and the usual points of contact are to remain unchanged for the time being.

Highlights of the visit

Our visitors were especially taken with our central warehouse. On 25,000 m² of logistics space, we keep more than 16,000 items permanently in stock, selected from a total range of over 150,000 items. Warehouse revenue exceeds €110 million.

A wide range of interfaces also enables direct data exchange with our systems.

“We were impressed by the capabilities of this cooperative,” says Tobias Thelen. “Such a comprehensively stocked warehouse and direct digital connectivity are a clear advantage for our customers. We intend to continue Kobe’s well-established partnership with LLG with the same reliability.”

Thanks and welcome

“Twenty-three years of membership are a sign of trust for which we are very grateful to the Kobe family,” adds Oliver Boensch, CEO of LLG. “We are delighted that Altmann Analytik is now building on this – a warm welcome!”
