Meckenheim, 1 October2026
On 1 October 2026, Meckenheim’s Mayor Sven Schnieber and Economic Development Officer Dirk Schwindenhammer visited Lab Logistics Group (LLG). In talks with CEO Oliver Boensch and CFO Matthias Trinberg, they discussed the challenges facing the city, the state of the labour market, the company’s development, and digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
Meckenheim, also known as the “Apple City” because of its orchards, has around 25,000 inhabitants and continues to attract more and more families. According to the city, the number of children is growing faster here than anywhere else in the Rhein-Sieg district. Consequently, the city is investing in education as a location factor: a new school campus is being built for more than €120 million, on which the new Konrad-Adenauer-Gymnasium building was completed in remarkably short time.
For LLG, with around 130 employees, this development is an opportunity: “Anyone who joins us will find in Meckenheim a pleasant place to live for the whole family. That makes it easier for us to attract and retain skilled professionals,” says Oliver Boensch.
At the same time, LLG will invest in building services, IT and other infrastructure over the coming years to secure its operational capability for the long term. It is currently implementing a new ERP system.
A tour of the facilities showed the guests the capabilities of the company’s logistics operation. With a floor space of 25,000 square metres, LLG is well equipped for the targeted growth through additional shareholders.
“Like many municipalities, Meckenheim faces major financial challenges. That makes companies like LLG, which invest here and offer attractive jobs, all the more important,” says Mayor Schnieber. “Anyone who chooses our city for their family should find both: a modern educational infrastructure and career prospects right on their doorstep.”
LLG warmly thanks the guests for their visit and wishes the mayor, elected in 2025, continued success.
